[heading-style-h3]Storm Emergency: Stop-Leak for Severely Wind-Damaged Roof System[heading-style-h3]
<<A severe windstorm tore through this property, ripping off nearly the entire top layer of the roofing system. With the roof fully exposed and at high risk of water intrusion, the property owner called Flat Roof Pros for an emergency response. This project began as an urgent stop-leak service and later transitioned into a full roof replacement once conditions allowed.>>

[heading-style-h4]Emergency Situation[heading-style-h4]
The building was covered by a modified bitumen (torch-down) roof covering approximately 2,234 square feet. During severe wind conditions, the entire top layer of the roof was torn away, leaving the roof deck fully exposed. With the roof no longer providing protection, the building was at immediate risk of interior damage. The priority was to stop active exposure, prevent further damage, and stabilize the building as quickly as possible.

[heading-style-h4]Stop-Leak Response[heading-style-h4]
Our team performed an on-site inspection and executed an emergency stabilization plan:
- Tarped the entire exposed roof area
- Secured the tarp to protect the roof surface from rain and moisture
- Created a temporary waterproof barrier to prevent interior damage
- Stabilized the site until permanent repairs could be scheduled
This emergency stop-leak allowed the property to remain protected while next steps were evaluated.

[heading-style-h4]Post-Emergency Findings[heading-style-h4]
After the storm damage was fully inspected, the roof could no longer be certified:
- The original torch-down roof was too damaged to repair
- The top roofing layer had been torn off by the wind
- The roof structure needed to be checked once the old system was removed
At this stage, a full replacement was recommended for long-term performance and safety.

[heading-style-h4]Solution[heading-style-h4]
- Removal of damaged roof decking and installation of new plywood
- Installation of a vapor barrier and insulation for long-term durability
- Sealing around all roof openings, vents, and flashing
- Replacement of storm-damaged gutter sections
- Installation of a new PVC roofing system
- Installation of new parapet coping
- Area cleanup and removal of all debris

[heading-style-h4]Why This Emergency Response Worked[heading-style-h4]
This emergency response worked because the roof was secured right away, stopping further damage and stabilizing the building. From there, the process stayed clear and straightforward, with a smooth transition from emergency service to a long-term solution. There was no rush to make permanent decisions, the property was protected first, and the final roofing system was installed once conditions allowed.
